Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using RetroMarket ("the Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the Platform. We may update these Terms from time to time, and your continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

2. Description of Service

RetroMarket is a peer-to-peer marketplace for retro gaming collectibles and vintage PC hardware. The Platform connects buyers and sellers through both a web application and Discord bot integration. RetroMarket does not take possession of, ship, or handle any items listed on the Platform.

3. User Accounts

• You may create an account using Discord OAuth or email/password.
• You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.
• You must provide accurate information and keep it up to date.
• You may not create multiple accounts to circumvent restrictions or bans.
• We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

4. Listings and Transactions

• Sellers are solely responsible for the accuracy of their listing descriptions, pricing, and item condition.
• All transactions (payments, shipping, returns) occur directly between buyer and seller, outside of RetroMarket.
• RetroMarket does not process, hold, or facilitate payment between buyers and sellers. We recommend using secure payment methods with buyer protection (e.g., PayPal Goods & Services).
• Listings must be for legal items. Prohibited items include but are not limited to: counterfeit goods, stolen property, and items that violate intellectual property rights.
• RetroMarket may charge platform fees for premium features such as listing visibility upgrades and seller subscriptions.

5. User Conduct

You agree not to:

• Post fraudulent, misleading, or deceptive listings.
• Engage in scamming, phishing, or any form of fraud.
• Harass, threaten, or abuse other users.
• Attempt to manipulate the reputation or review system.
• Use automated tools to scrape data or create listings without authorization.
• Circumvent any security measures or restrictions on the Platform.

6. Reputation and Trust System

RetroMarket maintains a reputation system based on transaction ratings and verification tiers. Users progress through verification levels (Unverified, Email Verified, ID Verified, Trusted Seller) that unlock additional features. Scammer flags propagate across all connected platforms. Abuse of the reputation system may result in account suspension.

7. Discord Integration

RetroMarket integrates with Discord for authentication, listing management, and notifications. By connecting your Discord account, you authorize RetroMarket to access your Discord username, avatar, and server memberships. Discord server moderators may have additional moderation capabilities over marketplace content in their communities.

8. Content Ownership

You retain ownership of content you create (listings, reviews, profile information). By posting content on RetroMarket, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide license to display and distribute that content on the Platform and connected Discord servers for the purpose of operating the marketplace.

9. Limitation of Liability

RetroMarket is a venue for connecting buyers and sellers. We are not a party to any transaction between users. We do not guarantee the quality, safety, or legality of items listed, the truth or accuracy of listings, or the ability of sellers to sell or buyers to pay. RetroMarket is not responsible for any loss, damage, or dispute arising from transactions between users.

10. Account Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account at our discretion for violations of these Terms, including but not limited to: fraudulent activity, scamming, harassment, or repeated policy violations. You may delete your account at any time by contacting us. Upon termination, your active listings will be removed and your profile will no longer be publicly visible.

11. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated through the Platform or via email. Your continued use of RetroMarket after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree with the changes, you should discontinue use of the Platform.
