1. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly and information collected automatically when you use RetroMarket:

Information You Provide

  • Account data: Email address, username, password (for email accounts), and profile bio.
  • Discord OAuth data: When you sign in with Discord, we receive your Discord username, avatar, user ID, and server memberships. We do not access your Discord messages or private channels.
  • Listing content: Item descriptions, photos, pricing, and category selections you create.
  • Transaction data: Ratings, reviews, and offer/bid amounts submitted on the Platform.

Information Collected Automatically

  • Usage data: Pages visited, features used, search queries, and interaction patterns.
  • Device data: Browser type, operating system, and device identifiers for PWA push notifications.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • Provide the service: Authenticate your identity, display your profile and listings, facilitate offers and bids.
  • Cross-platform sync: Sync your identity and activity between the web application and Discord.
  • Notifications: Send marketplace notifications via Discord DM, web push, and email based on your preferences.
  • Trust and safety: Maintain reputation scores, propagate scammer flags, and moderate content.
  • Improvements: Analyze usage patterns to improve the Platform experience.

3. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only in these circumstances:

  • Public profile: Your username, avatar, bio, reputation score, and verification tier are publicly visible on your profile page and listings.
  • Discord communities: Listings you create may be posted to connected Discord servers matching your listing category.
  • Scammer propagation: If you are flagged as a scammer, that flag propagates across all connected platforms for community safety.
  • Service providers: We use third-party services to operate the Platform (see Section 6).
  • Legal requirements: We may disclose information when required by law or to protect our rights.

4. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Listing data for completed transactions is retained for pricing intelligence and market analysis. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal information within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or necessary for dispute resolution.

5. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights:

  • Access: Request a copy of your personal data.
  • Correction: Update or correct inaccurate information via your profile settings.
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your account and associated data.
  • Export: Request an export of your data in a portable format.
  • Opt-out: Manage notification preferences and marketing communications.

GDPR (EU/EEA residents): You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing, and port your data. To exercise these rights, contact us using the information in Section 8.

CCPA (California residents): You have the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion, and opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information.

6. Third-Party Services

RetroMarket uses the following third-party services to operate:

  • Convex — Database and backend infrastructure. Data is encrypted at rest and in transit.
  • Vercel — Web application hosting and edge network delivery.
  • Discord — OAuth authentication and bot integration for marketplace features.
  • Stripe — Payment processing for platform fees and subscriptions (not buyer-seller transactions).
  • Resend — Transactional email delivery for notifications and alerts.

Each service has its own privacy policy governing their handling of your data.

7. Cookies and Tracking

RetroMarket uses essential cookies for authentication and session management. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or cross-site tracking. Analytics data is collected through Vercel Analytics to understand platform usage patterns and improve performance.
